37th edition of Niger Governor’s Cup hots up in Mokwa

*Fresh urges youths to embrace sports

Vice chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)’s Technical and Development Committee, Alhaji Ahmed Yusuf Fresh, was the guest of honour at the opening ceremony of the 37th edition of the Niger Governor’s cup.

Fresh after the usual tradition with the two teams said this 37th edition would give more opportunities to latent talents in Niger state.

“I want to implore you all to be serious with this prestigious competition as it would open a new vista for the untapped talents,” he promised the youths.
Meanwhile, in some of the matches decided Mokwa LG defeated Gurara LG 3-0, Munya LG defeated Edati LG 2-1, Bida LG took their brothers from Wushishi LG to a 2-1 win.

Lavun LG held Gbako LG to a 1-1 scoreline while Agaie LG held Borgu LG to a scoreless draw, Katcha LG took a slim 1-0 margin up against Mariga LG while Rijau LG got a 0-0 scoreline against Paikoro LG.
The preliminary round of matches continue on Saturday in the various centres.
