Former international and Athletics federation presidential candidate, Rosa Collins, has said that she will not accept the decision of the ministry of the Youth and Sport swearing in Hon Ibrahim Shehu Gusau as the new president of the federation.
The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung, swore-in Gusau alongside 30 other Presidents to steer the affairs of their respective federations for the next four years, in a ceremony at the national stadium in Abuja on Friday.
According to her, the minister has robbed her of the mandate she holds because “election did not hold in athletics. She wondered why Dalung went ahead to swear-in Gusau. He (Dalung) was the one that cancelled the bye-election for Athletics Federation of Nigeria on Thursday 20th August.
Collins who is visibly frustrated at the whole electoral process disclosed that she and her supporters were mercilessly beaten by thugs during the 13th June sports federation election just to pave way for Ibrahim Gusau whom she believe have no passion for the sports and have zero knowledge of Athletics as he cannot even lace a spike successfully.
Collins noted further that she warned Dalung not to swear in Ibrahim Gusau as the AFN president.
She said that she made no sense out of her 35 minutes conversation with Dalung when the latter called her on Friday morning. She went further to describe Ibrahim Gusau who she alleged robbed her of her right and the minister of Sport as a “clueless.”
Collins called on everybody that loves Athletics to rise up and do something. Her mandate she insisted cannot be stolen. If not Nigeria will be suspended by the international body and Athletics will finally die in Nigeria.
