By Oluwole Francis

As the maiden FCT Sports stakeholders Summit being organised by Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) draws near, the Executive Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Candido, has expressed the readiness of the council to lend their support.

Hon. Candido who gave the assurance when he received leaders of FCT SWAN in his office noted that as a sports-loving Chief Executive, his focus was to take meaningful steps that would uplift the status of Sports within his locale.

While stressing that Sports has remained pivotal to the entire well-being of human existence, the council boss expressed readiness to give mainly young ones their pride of place using Sports as a veritable means.

“I’m very much happy that SWAN as a professional body laced with the responsibility of publicising and criticising the goings on in Nigerian Sports has come up with this initiative. The idea is quite commendable and we will do all we can to contribute our quota.

“In this area council, we don’t just say what we want to happen, we make sure we lead by example. Our team, AMAC FC, is dear to us and we will do everything to continually encourage them especially when they will play in the Federations cup.”

Earlier, FCT Chairman SWAN, Comrade Kayode Adeniyi explained that the essence of the upcoming Sports summit slated for July this year was to bring various stakeholders from all the six Area councils who will chart a fresh course towards moving FCT Sports to greater heights.

Adeniyi used the opportunity to commend AMAC Council Chairman for his leading role in sports development over the years and enjoined him not to relent.
