Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) has extolled the appointments of tested professionals and technocrats like Chief Duro Onabule and Otunba Olusegun Runsewe among others to head some Federal Government owned media establishments and parastatals.
We commend President Muhammedu Buhari for appointing tested professionals like Duro Onabule as Chairman of NTA Board and Otunba Olusegun Runsewe as DG Council of Arts and Culture amongst others.
The NUJ statement was signed by Shuaibu Usman Leman, the Walin Shadalafiya, who is the National Secretary. He described the appointment of Runsewe as well received, which comes as a relief as efforts are being made to reposition the Arts and Culture sector.
As Chairman of the International Institute of Journalism Governing Council Abuja and an experienced technocrat, we believe that he will deploy all the experience he acquired over time to revamp the cultural sector.
We equally salute the other key appointments into positions in NTA and FRCN.
This development surely explains that the Federal Government is mindful of the complex nature of these key areas and desires to make a meaningful change.
It is our conviction that these highly intelligent and resourceful individuals will bring the much needed change to uplift their respective sectors.
Certainly, this assignment is difficult but with the calibre of professionals appointed and with our support, the desired milestone will be achieved within a limited time.
While rejoicing these appointments, we urge the appointees to justify the confidence we all have in them.
