Benue Gov, Ortom, signs sports marketing, lottery board bill into law
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has commended the House of Assembly for the synergy that exists between it and the executive arm of government.
Speaking while signing the Benue State Sports Marketing and Lottery Board Bill into law at Benue People’s House, Friday.
Governor Ortom said since he came into office, there has been no cause for disagreement between the two arms of government.
While maintaining that the legislative and executive arms of government have been working together for the growth and development of the state, the governor said the board would make sports more viable in the face of the dwindling economy.
He commended the speaker, Mr Terkimbi Ikyange, for his commitment to the passing of bills that will enhance the growth of sports the state and assured that in no distant future, the Sports Marketing and Lottery Board would be constituted.
The governor said the board would make sports to yield revenue for the financing of projects that would have direct bearing on the lives of the people and appreciated God and the Assembly members who ensured the quick passage of the bill.
Earlier, Speaker of the Assembly, Mr Terkimbi Ikyange, had explained to the governor that the bill was handled with dispatch because of its importance to the government and people of the state.
