*Serving minister may become SGF
From very reliable sources, about 21 ministers may be leaving the administration during the long awaited and sought mid-term reshuffle of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
The hosting of the victorious D’Tigress basketball national women team, the African champions staved the surprise announcement by President Muhammadu Buhari. Cabinet members converged at the Presidential Villa Abuja for Wednesday’s FEC meeting.
Presidential sources told www.gongnews.net that the list of the ministers to be relived of their jobs has been concluded. The cabinet reshuffle was one of the pressing issues the President wanted to address as the administration enters the anchor leg of its life which is considered as a very crucial part of its four-year mandate with political activities ahead of the 2019 general elections expected to kick off in January next year.
www.gongnews.net gathered authoritatively from presidential sources that the president will also name a new Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). The source was not too categorical squealed that a former governor who is presently a cabinet minister is highly favoured for the role.
One source said: “The choice of the minister as SGF is very strategic. Since President Buhari returned to Nigeria from England on the 19th August 19 after a 103-day treatment for an undisclosed ailment, he has met with him twice on serious government matters.
News reports had suggested that then Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo had during a visit to the President in London last month sought permission to reshuffle the cabinet. The reports said the President asked him to delay the move until his return back to the country.
The cabinet reshuffle has been long awaited by Nigerians many of who are not satisfied by the performance of many of the ministers. As it is, about 21 of them have been scheduled to be dropped.
