CAF Confederation Cup: We are minutes away from victory – Yaw Preko

Coach Yaw Preko has only 90 minutes to write the name of his rookie team FC Ifeanyi Ubah in gold and the Ghanaian international is optimistic the task can be done in Egypt today, he had a chat with Olayinka Elebute of www.gongnews.net. He assured Nigerians total victory for his team.

Your first leg match was a very tight, eventually you won how do you feel?

I’m good, I’m feeling fine. We waited for it and it was good. We’ll see how it goes. The job is not done yet. And we are just some minutes away from victory in Egypt.

As it is your team is now have 90 minutes away from the next round. What do you think your team needs to do better in Alexandra?

Put the ball at the back of the net. We working on it. Goalscoring, we’re creating chances but we’re not scoring so we’re still working on it. Hoping it pay’s off in Egypt.

Working on it; that means your strikers were not doing what you wanted them to do in Nnewi. What really went wrong because you had more chances in the game?

Well, it happens their goalkeeper had a good day. Our strikers, our midfielders, we don’t need only the attackers to score. Midfielders had chances but they were not scoring so we’ll work on it, go to Egypt and see how it goes.

You had like series of training with them after the game, what were you telling your boys?

Keep on working. The job is not done yet. So we’ve to keep on working. Until we attain success on Sunday in Egypt we will not stop working.

As an ex international, what are you telling your boys both the one’s who have had international experience and those yet to have?

It’s all about being focused, its not done yet, the job is still going to be difficult in Egypt. The weather, the field, everything is going to be different from here so we’ve to be prepared and prepare adequately for that challenge and I can assure you we are equal to the task.

The job of a striker is to score goals and your strikers had many but scuttled it. Now you have a second chance, what do you think they should do to ensure you get the most important goal in Egypt on Sunday.

To keep on working. To be perfect you need to work work very hard. The attackers are doing that so I believe it will pay off in Egypt.

Your team has a president who has spent so much, invested alot, what are you promising Nigerians against Al-Masry on Sunday?

We’ll do our best to make it to the second round, and that am very sure we will achieve with the support of our president Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah and the love we are getting from our fans back home, we will triumph on Sunday.
