*Put a smile on widows campaign
Aida Benjamin Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, has distributed food items to widows in Abuja in celebration of the NGO’s monthly outreaches which climaxed with their end of year Christmas party.
The founder, Mrs Adaku Oseiza, in company of staff and friends of the NGO at their office in 33, Gana Street Maitama, Abuja the venue of the event received several widows who turned out in large numbers to celebrate the season and end of the year put-a-smile-on-widows-campaign.
Items distributed at the event included wrappers, clothing, food items ranging from crates of egg, vegetable oil, rice and cash gifts.
Mrs Oseiza encouraged the widows to never look down on themselves but to give thanks to God Almighty for keeping them alive throughout the year. She also advised the women to always have a grateful heart.
The widows appreciated the founder for giving them hope and assurance of better living standards. They also commended Mrs. Oseiza for setting up a skills Acquisition and empowerment programme for them which is to commence in January, 2018.
The skill acquisition is in four categories, part of which is to involve 15 widows and last for three weeks (in phases) make-up, bead making, shoe/hat/bag making/ catering, event management and event decoration.
The AIDA Benjamin Foundation focuses on helping widows, orphans and vulnerable children.
