Chukwumerije set to apply new WTF rules as CCSF Prix debuts
Close to 100 Nigerian athletes drawn from various parts of the country and beyond will next month go to battle when the maiden Taekwondo Prix Series gets underway at the indoor hall of Old Parade Ground in Abuja.
Put together by Chika Chukwumerije Sports Foundation (CCSF) the event which would be held in every quarter of this year will be staged for the first time on 11th March.
Giving further clarification in Abuja, CCSF Leader, Chika Chukwumerije who himself has trailed the blaze in Taekwondo at Olympics where he won medal and other World championships maintained that he would continuously focus on breeding time-tested athletes who will be ready to rule the world.
After taking part in a coaching course organised by World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) at Las Vegas, United States of America where he was the only Nigerian to obtain G-ranked coaching permit, Chukwumerije further revealed that he was ready to unleash the latest rules.
Adding, he said “this event which is organised by the CCSF and sanctioned by the FCT Taekwondo Association, is the first of a four-part series that will be done on the last month of every quarter in 2017.
“The latest WTF rules in addition to the complete Daedo e-system using the latest Gen I software will be used for the adult event, which has complementary prize monies for eventual medallists.
Medals and certificates will be given to both adults and kiddies.
“Being the first ever event in Nigeria to utilise the latest WTF rules, we are confident that the experience would give your athletes a competitive edge in the future.”
Already, letters of invitation have been sent out to would-be participants with an ultimatum to ensure they stamp their registration on or before 5th March.
