Group Captain Rahinatu Garba, the National Vice President of the National Association of Women in Sports (NAWIS), has commended the Shooting Federation for the two-day seminar organised to update stakeholders. She said it is a right development with the core of officials, coaches and the athletes.
Shooting federation has come with a new thing as you can see we had about three presentations as it affects doping, the role of military, para military and sports council in the development of the sport and creating the incisive vision for sports development. The content were all rich and knowledgeable. We are better informed in those areas. Most of the athletes don’t know about doping test and we have been warned.
She also talked about the challenges which confronts the federations especially during this recession period. Mostly, it is financial and equipment, if we can surmount these, the sky cannot be our limit.
“The next Commonwealth Games will be better. We shall do better. Infact, we will top the table medals by God’s grace” she disclosed.
In his comments, the Secretary General of the Shooting Federation, Emmanuel Oludukiya, commended Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung, for dissolving the board of federations.
It was recalled Dalung dissolved and directed secretaries to take charge and run the affairs of their various federations during the process of the elections.”
The election date is 13th June, 2017 while every other programme for the electoral process will be adjusted to fit into the new election date.
Mr. Oludukiya the federation secretary said if there is anything on earth that the Minister has done right for the first time in my life is for him to have dissolved the board of federations and to make sure election must take place as agreed by stakeholders. He deserves commendation.
“Initially, you have to be appointed into the board as a athletes’ representative but now it is through election.
