Alhaji Dauda Yusuf President of Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN)…accused of running a one man show

*Plethora of allegations against Alhaji Yusuf Dauda

Stakeholders in the developments in the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) have called on the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung, to as matter of urgency summon the board meeting of the federation to shelve pending crisis within it members.

The stakeholders which comprises of former national league players, former national team players, six former Captains of the national teams, former team managers, former coaches as well as veteran handball players made the call in Abuja.

According to them, the federation as is being presently led by Alhaji Yusuf Dauda has not called for a board meeting since last year June and the federation is being run solely by the president of the federation and it secretary without board members.

Speaking in their numbers yesterday in Abuja, “the handball family members” said that Alhaji Yusuf Dauda led federation has not given annual budget of the federation since 2009 to 2015, he refused to give account of money received from the ministry of sports for it’s programme, monies accruing from players transferred to foreign clubs from 2009 to 2016 as well as grants received from international bodies.

According to one of the stakeholders, “let’ me tell you, Nigeria is seriously losing out of handball because of personal interest of one man, for the past two years the federation has not organised any competitions, no board meeting since last year, he takes decisions without consulting any of the board members, under this same man, Nigeria was suspended by the Africa Handball Confederation (CAHB) which denied Nigeria’s senior women handball team from participating in the 22nd edition of the Women’s seniors African Nation Cup in Angola,  between 28th November to 17th 2016 December in Luanda.

“We also lost out in electing Nigerians into the international body last year, it will take Nigeria 15 years or more to get somebody in that capacity.

“We are not happy, we love this game that had helped us in the past, we want to contribute our quota to the development of the game, we will not allow one man to kill the joy of the game, board meeting is very necessary to address these menace,” they noted.
