Kano State Football Federation Chairman, Alhaji Sharif Rabiu Inuwa, has assured Nigerians that the Super Eagles home-based team will come out in a fine colour against their hosts, the Squirrel of Benin Republic, for Sunday’s 2018 African Nations Championship qualifying match in Cotonou.
Super Eagles failed to reach the finals of the first two editions of the competition but won the bronze medal at the third edition in 2014. They however could not make the knock–out stage at the fourth edition in Rwanda early last year.
The chairman Kano state football association who is also an Executive member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), commended the Kano state government for the approval to host the camping and the return leg of the qualifying match.
Ahlan said from what we have seen so far at the Super Eagles training in Kano, I believe we will get the deserved result in Cotonou. Our boys are ready for the match.
He also thanked the governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, for the massive support the Super Eagles received from him.
The return leg will hold at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano on Saturday, 19th August, with the winner qualifying for the 5th African Nations Championship scheduled for Kenya early next year.
Ahlan urged Nigerians to be confident on the home-based Super Eagles ahead of 1st leg CHAN 2018 qualifier versus Benin Republic.
He said, “We’ve perfected our strategy administratively and logistically in order to ensure that the Super Eagles get out a good result away from home against Benin Republic. I also want Nigerians to be confident of the team’s capacity because going by what I saw during the practices, they are ready.”
