Education is key to football development – Prince Elube, retired FIFA ref
Former FIFA referee, Prince Elube, believes that sufficiently educating football stakeholders on the laws of the game of football at all levels, would help develop Nigeria football from the grassroots.
He made this assertion while delivering lectures to the participants of this year’s Niger state governor’s cup which kicked off this weekend.
Football education literally speaking is what every person needs to know. We must facilitate learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs and habits of the game.
Football has it own laws that should be followed to the end be it systematic approach or scientifically because the laws gets to be updated everyday since football has gone scientific, he noted.
Prince Elube who also doubles as a NFF referee assessor admonished the important roles in ball handling and indeed the controversial off side in the game to sports secretaries, coaches and team captains who listened attentively to the paper presenter.
However, the opening ceremony match between host local Government Mokwa LG vs Gurara LG took place as we were going to press. The matches are taking at the College of Agriculture Mokwa playing ground.
