Future of Women football is in Edo state –Roland Abu

*Gov Obaseki has laid the path to tomorrow

Chairman of Edo Queens FC of Benin-City, Mr. Roland Abu, has revealed that the future of Women Football is in Edo state, given the quality of expressed support from the government of the state.

Abu said this while chatting with www.gongnews.net in an interview. The chairman who spoke in a passionate way about how serious the state is taking Women football very serious revealed the state government’s drive to see that women football will soon be a reference point in Nigeria.

“You can see we hosted the Nigerian national U-20 women teams and not long after we hosted the women League Super 4. I know that should tell you that we are more ready to change the future of female football.”

The national branch chairman of NUPENG, Mr. Roland Abu, is happy with Godwin Obaseki’s drive to make sport an integral part of his vision to the state and also to empower youths using sports to achieve his goals. He also gave kudos to the Deputy Governor Mr Phillip Shaibu who has ensured that the pride of the state is not relegated to the lower league but plead for the state to have a proper structure for Edo Insurance FC of Benin-City in the next coming season to ensure the team return to the premier league.

The chairman took into cognisance of the fact that the state remained an avenue for Nigeria to explore in terms of Women football in the past and also in the future but the state Government must make it happen with their total support for women football but believe with the effort of the Deputy Governor Phillip Shaibu that very soon Edo State will rule Nigerian women football.
