Hot FM, NAN, Nigeria Info, NTA in semi-finals

*FCT SWAN/Ahmed Fresh Cup

It promises to be a firecracker of games this weekend as red-hot Hot FM takes on News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in the first semi-final of the 2017 FCT SWAN/Ahmed Yusuf Fresh 5-A-side football tournament at the Area 3 stadium pitch while team Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) headquarters will square up against Cool/Wazobia/ Nigeria Info FM in the second encounter on Saturday

Hot FM cruised into the semi-final with a 4-0 thrashing of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) team.

Hot FM parading the likes of Michael ‘Radio Arshavin’ Obasi, and Khalid Ahmed Real made their numerical advantage count as they opened scores, from the blast of the whistle to hit FRCN with four unreplied goals.

The heroic performance of Ndubueze Chidoka in between the sticks for Radio Nigeria could not save them from conceding the goals.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on the other hand, were forced to sweat their way to the semi-final against  NTA Channel 5 Abuja. The Abuja local station surprisingly took the lead through Lekan Kilajolu before NAN drew level with Benjamin Puyate’s goal and eventually prevailed via penalty kicks.

Cool/Wazobia/Nigeria Info with their parade of stars like Arafat Aliu, Bunmi Blair, Ben 200 and others did not kick the ball to advance to the semi-final as they walked over Kiss FM.
NTA headquarters pipped Independent Television (ITV) 1-0, to book their place.

The chairman of the 2017 FCT SWAN WEEK organising committee, Mike Oboh, said the competition which is bankrolled by the chairman of the NFF technical and development committee, Ahmed Yusuf Fresh, promises to be a memorable one for the finalists, other participating teams as well as football fans at the stadium.

The first match between Hot FM and News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) will kick off at 9:00 am, while the second game will start at 9:30 am.
