Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youths in Kogi state on Friday called for the suspension of the state House of Assembly members involved in anti-party activities.
The youths of the party made this known at the party’s stakeholders meeting held in Lokoja the Kogi state capital.
Aggrieved youths alleged that some of the PDP members in the state house of assembly are romancing with the ruling party All Progressive Congress (APC) to frustrate stakeholders of the opposition party.
Hell was let loose at the venue of the stakeholders meeting when the opposition party learnt that the majority leader, Prince Matthew Kolawole, was in the entourage of Governor Yahaya Bello on his trip to Katsina state.
The PDP youths called the Hon Kolawole a betrayer not only to the state but to the national party.
The youth sang songs of betrayal and challenged the leaders of the party to call the state House of Assembly members to order stressing that they no longer have confidence in most of the members.
Reacting, the PDP Youth leader North Central, Aruwa Ismaila said the party needs to instil discipline in the party if they are to progress.
“We as a party read it on news that Hon Matthew Kolawole is planning to decamp to the All Progressive Congress. I strongly believe it’s a rumour but if true, the state executive have to take decisive actions and not tolerate insolence in our great party” he said.
“You can see the PDP youths are not happy but we are optimistic that come 2019, we shall be in Lugard House and those lost sheep will come back to the fold”, Aruwa noted.
Present at the stakeholders meeting are, former governors of Kogi state, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris and Idris Wada, former deputy governor, Architect Yomi Awoniyi, House of Representatives members, Hon T. J. Yusuf and Emmanuel Egwu, former SSG, Musa Ahmadu, former Okene local government chairman, Hon Karaku amongst others.
