I will not re-apply for Bayelsa United job -Coach Allen

Coach Festus Allen…protests disrespect from Bayelsa United FC of Yenagoa

Former Technical Adviser of Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, Coach Festus Allen, has frowned at the decision by the management of Bayelsa United football club of Yenagoa, asking the coaches to re-apply for their positions if interested.

Allen, who led the Nigeria National League (NNL) club to a second place finish in Group B2 last season told sport writers in Ilorin that the decision by the Tony Ogola-led board is not good enough, adding that it undermines his contributions to the club in the recently concluded season.

‘It is true I had a one-year contract with the club, which ended at the close of the season. But going by the final standing of the team at the end of the season, asking me to re-apply is like telling me I am no longer needed.”

“Until the last match of the season between ABS FC of Ilorin and Gateway FC, we still had the chance of making it to the NPFL. Had the match in Ilorin ended in a draw, we would have made it. That is to tell you the level of our achievement.”

“If they cannot judge me and my assistants with the achievements we had and ask us to continue, I don’t see myself re-applying for the same job again.”

“I thank the management of the club for the opportunity I was given to contribute my quota to the development of the club. I also want to commend the wonderful players I worked with, and the backroom staff. Bayelsa United is presently a team with great credibility, but I am afraid, I cannot re-apply.

Asked about his next move, the former handler of ABS FC said it’s all in the hand of God. “My next move is in the hands of Almighty God. Watch out for Coach Festus Allen”, he concluded.
