*Sponsored by Hon Mulikat Akande, NUJ

Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in collaboration with the Norwegian Union of Journalists, the Federation of African Journalists – with kind assistance from the International Federation of Journalists is holding the second Gender equality and safety training for women journalists, in Abuja.

According to a statement signed by Rafat Salami, the Secretary NUJ FCT Council, “the two-day training programme, graciously sponsored by Honorable Mulikat Akande former Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, is scheduled to take place on the 25th October 2017 at 9:00 am prompt at the Nugget Hotel in Utako.”

Part of the objective of the programme is to expose journalists to current dynamics in gender issues especially in the work environment, as well as gender safety issues. These are very important to journalists especially in Nigeria where they continue to put their lives at risk to report violence, protests and insurgency.

President of the Federation of African Journalists who doubles as the President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Abdulwaheed Odusile, alongside the National Chairman of NAWOJ Mrs. Ifeyinwa Omowale would declare the programme open. Hon. Mulkat Akande would deliver the keynote address.
