This year’s edition of the Igbo Traders Football Association (ITFA) organised by the Igbo Unity Soccer competition has been scheduled to kick off on Sunday 30th July, at the Main-Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
In a release signed by Secretary of the Organising Committee, Okoroji Sunday, the opening match will be between Super United Football Club and Young Stars Football Club by 4.00pm, with three other matches also holding same day, beginning from 12.00noon.
11 clubs will participate in the competition and they include Super United FC, Mighty Pillars FC, Young Stars FC, Odojiri Ome FC, Star Youths FC, Fathers FC and Super Samba FC.
Others are Samba FC, Sky Rangers FC, Mighty Stars FC and Young Fathers FC.
Among those expected to grace the opening match are the competition sponsor, Hon Zakari Mohammed Lafia, who is a member of the House of Representatives representing Baruten/Kaiama Federal Constituency, all members of the ITFA, President-General of Igbo Community in Kwara State, representatives of the participating clubs and other stakeholders.
The age long championship has been played in the state for so many decades. It has been one of the strongest function of unity amongst the Igbo community in the state.
