*Leadway storms AFN championships

Athletes from five sports federations have been programmed to be the pilot of the National Athlete insurance scheme. The five sports which are those on the development calendar of the Nigeria Sports Development Fund Inc (NSDFI) nationwide who are resident in the country are to be given minimum cover.
As part of their commitment to make Nigerian amateur athletes in the nation feel safer doing sports, a troika from Leadway Assurance Plc, were present at the All Comers athletics championships holding in Abuja at the National Stadium.
The insurance giants who have been primed for the 2018 sports season to insure all amateur athletes in Badminton, Handball, Athletics, Taekwondo, Baseball & Softball and Wrestling.
The Leadway Assurance folks which includes Idowu Akinwunmi, Ayodeji Ogunlabi and Sunny Usiobaifo said, “we only came on a solidarity to see the first of the sports in action. We are very thrilled to be a part of the new vision and future of Nigerian sports.”
It is our prayer to see some of these young athletes who will be motivated to do better with our insurance cover. We also thought we were going to see the President, Ibrahim Gusau, whose interest has been silently felt by us. Nigerian athletes are in for a protected future from this season courtesy of the Nigeria Sports Development Fund Inc (NSDFI).
