Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kwara State Council and the Correspondents Chapel, has joined other sympathisers to commiserate with the Government, people and the family of Alhaji Yusuf Abubakar, a veteran journalist, who died at the weekend.
A statement signed by its Council chairman, comrade Abiodun Abdulkareem and the state Secretary, Comrade Babatunde Jimba described the death of Alhaji Yusuf Abubakar as a colossal loss to journalism profession and peace building efforts in Nigeria.
NUJ Kwara council urged the bereaved family to take solace in God the Almighty who is the giver and taker of life saying his legacies will linger in the hearts of practitioners in the media industry particularly in Kwara State.
The NUJ noted that his foot prints and marks remain indelible as media practitioners especially journalists are desirous of sustaining his vision of promoting peace and harmony across the country.
The Correspondent Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists according to the chairman, Mr. Bolaji Olanrewaju, we “lost one of its great members to the cold hands of death early Sunday. Alhaji Yusuf Abubakar was the pioneer General Manager of FRCN Harmony station Idofian.
He was also a former Chairman of the chapel and Chief Press Secretary to two military administrators in the state.
He has since been buried according to Islamic rites. May Allah grant him Aljanafirdous
