*As organisers shift date to 20th November 2017
Kwara State Government and media outfits in the state have endorsed the 2017 edition of Media Games organised by the Kwara State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).
The state Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Alhaji Kale Ayo gave the endorsement Wednesday when he received the executive members of the SWAN led by its Chairman, Abdulwaheed Bibire.
Ayo commended the SWAN for providing enabling environment for media practitioners to participate in sporting activities, promised that government would support the association in staging the befitting media games.
Meanwhile, at the National Pilot Chapel, the Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief, National Pilot Newspaper, Alhaji Billy Adedamola praised the SWAN for organising the sporting event that will give journalists the opportunity to interact and also exercise their bodies.
The MD of National Pilot Newspaper gave the commendation when he received the executive members of SWAN in his office Wednesday.
Billy, who is a keen sports man, said the importance of exercise cannot be over emphasised, as he advised the pen pushers to take active participation in sports serious to enhance their productivity, as well as improving their heath conditions.
The former Special Assistant to former Kwara State Governor, Dr. Bukola Saraki, noted that lack of exercise has led to sudden death of many journalists due to their busy schedule of work, as he promised the full participation of his staff in the forthcoming media games.
He then reiterated his support to the sports writers in the quest to organise a successful competition, come 20th November, 2017.
Unveiling the programme of the 2017 edition to the chapels, Kwara SWAN Chairman, Abdulwahhed Bibire said all the necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure a successful tournament.
He said the game is an avenue and big opportunity for the members of the Fourth Estate of the realm who usually have a busy schedule to interact and also exercise their bodies after long working hours at their various offices.
Bibire urged the chapels to start early preparation, adding that arrangements have been concluded with the custodian of the Kwara Stadium for the availability of the facilities at the stadia.
The one-week long event earlier slated to hold on the 28th October have been rescheduled to the 20th of November, 2017.
SWAN also visited, Correspondent, NTA and Radio Kwara chapels.
