League Bloggers Awards shortlists eight for March recognition
*Dogo, Biffo, Ilechukwu, Ikhana on the list for Manager of the Month
League Bloggers Awards (LBA) has revealed the nominees in contention for the Player and Manager for the month of March in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
In a statement signed by George Akpayen, four players and four managers have been picked as standout performers for the month under review.
Nasarawa United’s Kabiru Dogo, Abdullahi Biffo of Abia Warriors, Fidelis Ilechukwu of MFM FC and Kadiri Ikhana of Kano Pillars are vying for the manager’s award for March.
Enyimba captain and former top scorer of the NPFL, Mfon Udoh, is the big name among the shortlists for the player’s award for March.
Nasarawa United goalkeeper Suraj Ayeleso as well as Samuel Mathias of El-Kanemi Warriors and this season’s leading scorer in the Nigerian top-flight, Stephen Odey, are all in contention.
Biffo, Dogo, and Ikhana all led their teams to 11 points each. Ilechukwu whose team played an additional two games in March owing to re-arranged fixtures picked 14 points.
Nasarawa United custodian Ayeleso put in a massive shift for his team in the month of March. He kept four clean sheets in six games. His clean sheets were against Akwa United, 3SC and FC Ifeanyiubah at home and on the road at Lobi Stars.
Current NPFL top scorer Odey accounted for seven of MFM’s 10 goals in March.
El-Kanemi’s Samuel Mathias netted three times and contributed two assists for his team in the month under review.
Mfon Udoh, who holds the record of most goals in a single NPFL season, was a major actor in Enyimba’s performance in March. He scored three goals and weighed in with an assist to cap his outing for the month.
The winners in both categories will be announced this Thursday.
