*Address the nation and stop speculations
Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to make public his state of health to guide against further speculations.
Speaking with newsmen in Lagos at the weekend, Prof Soyinka, reminded Buhari that the he is a public property by virtue of the position he occupies.
His words, “once you are in Aso Rock, or you occupy a similar position, you have a responsibility to come out frankly to your citizens.
“Guarding your state of health like Donald Trump is guarding his tax returns is not what we expect from a Nigerian President. Let him address the nation and stop all these speculations which create unnecessary political manipulations among other things.
“Why is the President hiding his state of health? He’s supposed to understand he’s public property. Me I’m still a private property, that’s why I’m not in Aso Rock.
Reports that since he returned from his extended medical vacation in the United Kingdom on 10th March, President Buhari has not attended any public function.
He has only been sighted twice at the weekly Jumat prayers in the Presidential Villa.
There has been several untidy speculations and reports bout the current state of the President’s health. Some borne out of genuine fears and intentions and many out of inexplicable tonations. Fact remains, the President is old and is susceptible to old age diseases.
Media minders of the Federal Government are also not making things look good with so many unplanned explanations they keep giving for the absence of the President in certain expected public functions. Pundits are of the view that a clear perspective and understanding explanation devoid of hiding information would have settled the minds of the citizens no matter how bad the situation would have been, if it was bad.
