Looters wished Buhari died – Babafemi Ojudu

*Fayose, pack your things as APC returns to Govt House

Senator Babafemi Ojudu, the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, has assured Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari would soon be back from his medical vacation.

The presidential aide spoke in Ado Ekiti on Saturday while hosting leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State at his residence in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

Ojudu said: “our President is honest, patriotic, committed and passionate that this country must be great. Nobody can accuse the President of fraud, corruption and stealing in government.

“He is on a holiday and he can use the opportunity to check the state of his health. At my own age, I do visit my doctors to check myself, my blood pressure, my sugar level and all the rest.

“I want to assure concerned Nigerians who really love the President that he will soon be back. It is only those who have stolen our money and kept it away that are wishing him dead.

“The President will soon be back and by God’s grace, he will not die as some mischievous people wish.”

Ojudu urged the APC members in Ekiti to be united and continue aggressive mobilisation drive ahead of the 2018 governorship poll.

He advised Governor Ayo Fayose to start packing his bags and prepare himself for an APC take-over of power “very soon.”

Ojudu explained that Buhari had so far given the country exemplary leadership and cleared the alleged rot left behind by the 16-year rule of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which he said had damaged the nation almost beyond repairs.

According to him, there was no vacuum in governance by the President’s physical absence as he had duly transmitted powers to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in line with the dictates of the Constitution.

He emphasised that looters of the nation’s treasury who were afraid of being brought to justice for plundering the economy, were wishing Buhari dead to escape the long arm of the law.

Ojudu said his desire was to ensure unity of APC members in Ekiti and bring everybody on board to build a stronger party as the 2018 poll beckoned.

He denied the existence of factions within the party, saying there were caucuses in the party like major political parties in other parts of the world to advance their interests.

He claimed that the image of Ekiti had been battered under Fayose’s leadership while many citizens of the state had been impoverished by alleged bad and anti-people policies of the administration.

The APC chief said the battle to rescue Ekiti from alleged bad governance and impunity had just started, urging the people of the state to embrace a progressive government to be formed by the broom party after the next poll.

He added: “Ekiti is a progressive state, our people must join the party of the progressives and they must reject the retrogressive party.

“Let our members go out and mobilise our people to drive away the interlopers in power. The image of Ekiti had been battered and damaged but we are coming back to repair it. All of us are ready to change the government here. The man should start packing his bags.”

The state APC Deputy Chairman, Mrs. Kemisola Olaleye, in a remark said the major task ahead of the party was to rescue Ekiti people from hunger and poverty allegedly unleashed on them by the PDP.
