Kano State FA Chairman Alhaji Serriff Inuwa Ahlan on was honoured during the weekend by Mascot Displayers Association of Nigeria in Kano, the group said Ahlan’s contributions to grassroots football in Kano is worthy to be emulated by other State FA and in this light the group is compelled to honour him as the Pillar of Nigeria Football to celebrate his strong commitment to the sport.

Speaking on behalf of the Mascot Displayers, Gbenga Fapetu, extolled the good works being done in Kano by the Inuwa Ahlan-led Kano State Football Association. If all other states can be this organised like Kano with various League structures we will not be struggling to rule the world.

Ahlan, thanked the Mascot Displayers who have been so supportive of Nigerian football in their own little way and said he is surprised to know that the body has over 250 members and also encouraged other people to support Nigeria football to grow in any capacity.

The support the national team get anywhere in the country shows football is a great factor in the country, you saw how my people in Kano welcome the CHAN team and the same love was extended to the Super Eagles in Uyo.

Ahlan used the opportunity to thank the Mascot Displayers for their continued support for all the national teams in the past and under the current board led by Amaju Pinnick. He urged them to grow stronger and their efforts will soon be rewarded, he opined.

Responding on behalf of Mascot Displayers, Gbenga Fapetu thanked Kano FA Chairman Alhaji Seriff Inuwa Ahlan for his words of encouragement and also used the opportunity to seek for the support of the association from the Chairman as the hope of Nigeria qualifying is more brighter than how it used to be in the past.

“We want to support Nigeria in Russia. We will be glad if Kano FA can sponsor some of our members to the World Cup in 2018 and we hope our request will be granted” he said.
