Match4IDPs: Emir of Kano lead fans, enthusiasts

Emir of Kano, HRH Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is to lead thousands of citizens, football enthusiasts and fans who will watch the Match4IDPs in Kano on the 14th December 14, as he has promised to grace the occasion in support of the initiative

Emir Sanusi said on Tuesday when he received  Nwankwo Kanu and El-Hadji Diouf, two of Africa’s football legends, the Chief Coordinator of the Match4IDPs, Adi Goodman and the Coordinator of the Africa legends, Mo Mohammed Mustapha in his palace, that he will watch the match between Kano Pillars football club and the Africa legends billed for the Sani Abacha stadium in the ancient city.

He said the idea to help contribute to the need of the displaced persons by the organisers was a welcome development.

He said he will use his position to push for the success of the programme, as the emirate council was in full support of it.

Emir Sanusi added that the players and officials are all welcomed to Kano, as they will get the best of the hospitality of the sports loving people in the State.

Speaking earlier, Nwankwo Kanu and El- Hadji Diouf said the choice of Kano, to host the event was based on the strong number of lovers of the game of football in the State.

They both agreed that the desire to give back to the people was the key motivating factors most of the former Africa stars agreed to participate in the game.

Also speaking, Coordinator of the Africa Legends, Mo Mohammed Mustapha, said most of the invited players have agreed to honour the event because of their strong belief that it is a worthy venture for the development of humanity.

Nwankwo Kanu and El-Hadji Diouf both gave signed jerseys of their former clubs, Arsenal FC and Liverpool FC to the emir, who is a fan of the gunners of London.
