Memorare Kingsley Oparaku has improved on his score by returning 2 under par on Saturday. He still played 6 birdies same as of Friday but was able to hang onto the lead by 4 shots ahead of the Ghanaian Vincent Torgah who returned 2 under and the Nigerian Salomon Ideriah who played course par 72.
Both of them are tied for the second position with 146 over two days. Close on their under heels, in fourth position, are visitor Mapwanya from Zimbabwe and Isaa A. Nlareb from Cameroon with 1 shot adrift.
Kingsley, winner of the last West Africa Golf Tour tournament, Port Harcourt Classic 2017, is the only player who scored under par.
Interestingly, amateur player, Monday Edet, is contesting as a professional having met the requirements to turn professional at the West Africa Golf Tour.
The Memorare continues Sunday at the Arsenal Golf and Country Club in Owerri, Imo State. N12 million ($30,000) is at stake.
This is the first time the Tour which is in honour of the WAGT President, Emeka Okatta’s late parents will be returning to the capital city of Imo State since the championship last held in December 2017, which was won by Torgah.
