President of J-Atete Football club of Warri, Mr. Julius Atete, has revealed to www.gongnews.net that Nigerian representative in the CAF Champions League is his role model club in the nation’s football circle.

He made this remark when he was speaking with journalists in Abuja. My club, J-Atete FC, played against MFM in the lower league some seasons ago and look at them now representing Nigeria. So, if they are there I believe my team is readier to take up the challenges of playing in the Premier League. So, anytime I see the team it make me to be more focused. It always gives me joy to aspire to do more and strive to improve on what I have done for the team. I know in the future my players and all those who believed in my vision will be happy to see us doing exploits for Delta State and Warri people.

We just gained promotion back to NNL and we are more prepared now to play and possibly gain promotion to the premiership and I must confess with you that MFM football Club of Lagos has increased my fate in the team if they can play on the continent. That shows that with time J-Atete will one day make Nigeria proud with our several talents on the world map.

The President of the Warri-based team, however called on the state Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, to emulate the kind gesture of the Edo State government who went out of it’s way to reward the NNL side Dynamite Football Club of Benin with cash and donation of a coaster bus for the Edo State side.

“I will not want to put pressure on Governor Okowa, I know he knows J-Atete has helped in a great way to help the state reduce youth restiveness. My team alone have over 100 players we have taken away from the streets. We have the main team and the feeders team. You know what that means in the state?

“I really appreciate the effort of the state government. I know he will be challenged by the gesture of Governor Obaseki and his deputy governor Phillip Shuiabu in Edo but with time he will do similar thing in Delta state to encourage private club ownership in the state. Governor Okowa is a sport loving person so I believe he will encourage private teams in Delta.
