Mother of Labour Party chairman, Omotosho, abducted

*Police assure her safe rescue

Mrs. Elizabeth Omotosho, mother of the National Chairman of Labour Party and former gubernatorial candidate of the party in the 2015 gubernatorial election in Kwara State, Dr Mike Omotosho, has been reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

The 71-year-old woman was allegedly kidnapped by four people at her family house on Lobalade Street at Tanke area of Ilorin between 7 and 8pm on Sunday, 5th November.

According to the gateman of the house, four men armed with dangerous weapons stormed the house last night (Sunday night) and abducted the aged Mrs. Elizabeth Omotosho to an unknown destination.

Speaking with newsmen on the telephone, Mike confirmed the abduction of his mother and said the Police headquarters in Abuja and Kwara State have been contacted on the incident.

He also appealed to members of the public with useful information about the kidnappers to contact the law enforcement agencies to ensure the quick rescue of his mother.

The spokesperson of the Kwara State Police Command, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the abduction of the woman and stated that the police had commenced the process of her rescue, while it has also launched an investigation into the matter.

Okasanmi advised residents of the State not to panic and should go about their lawful businesses without fear.

Groups and communities in the state have embarked on prayers for the safety of the abducted mother of the popular politician.
