Why we must encourage more children in sports – Hon. Ismaila Hassan
*Sports remains the best tool for our unity

Hon. Ismaila Hassan representing Akko federal constituency of Gombe state in the House of Representatives has urged parents to encourage their kids to be participating in school sports as it helps discover there interest in sporting activities and building a career prospect in the nearest future.
He made this call at this year’s Nigeria Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) inter-house competition for nursery/primary.
He said “sports is one of best tools that keeps us alive and its important to allow our children to effectively and efficiently engage in sporting activities, for we do not know how far they can go in sports which can us make them fulfil their personal dreams.”
Hon. Ismaila Muazu Hassan who also doubles as the Parents Teachers Association chairman of the school admonished the need for unity through sports.
“Like you all know in this country sports is the only thing that brings us to together. For instance, all the parents that are present here today as a result of this inter-house competition, and our kids, have been making us proud within ourselves here, during performances you can see the reactions of different parents, jumping up, and to the extent of hugging each other.”
He however hailed the organisers for including sports as part of the school’s programmes and for allowing the parents to take part in the exercise too.
As for this year Nigeria Tulip International Colleges inter-house competition, the Red house were crowned the overall winner with 231 points, green house were second with 214 points, blue booked the third position with 212 and orange house won the best match past among the houses came 4th with 194.
