Obasanjo, please remember me not with thy letters

*Nobody receives the letter and remains the same

I have never been a student of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. However, one of my friends, Olusegun Banjoko, loves the old man for his ‘native intelligence.’ As soon as we published the report, Mr Banjoko, a University lecturer was to call that, “the much awaited spiritual letter has arrived.”

At another breathe, he volunteered, “one of my prayer points has always been that may Obasanjo never write me a letter.”
I remember in what our mutual friends called ‘roll back the tape’ when the same lecturer (I wish Fela Anikulapo Kuti were alive. He would have told me: don’t teach me nonsense) told us when the same Obasanjo wrote Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. Dr Banjoko (who soonest will become a Professor) postulated that, “OBJ may have done exact or more evil than whoever he’s writing to. OBJ has always escaped repercussions. One strand is clear, whoever OBJ writes that letter CANNOT come back.”

Obansanjo’s letters: First, he wrote to Alhaji Shehu Shagari when the latter was soaked in mismanagement of the economy. Weeks later, the military (led by Muhammadu Buhari) smashed Shagari government in 1995.

He wrote to General Sani Abacha where he described him as a stone age dictator. It was that letter that landed him in trouble. He got death sentence which was converted to prison terms.

He wrote another letter to General Sani Abacha titled: NO CONDITION IS PERMANENT. Inside the lethal letter, he said, “I was a Head of State yesterday, today, I’m in jail. You’re the head of state today, tomorrow, your condition may be worse than mine…” Read the lisps on his lips. Indeed, Abacha’s future was worse. He ate apple and died.

Obasanjo forgot to write himself when in power: Check that administration carefully. There were so many ‘sins’ committed by them. One would have expected Chief Obasanjo to have written himself. He forgot. Instead, he wrote his deputy, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Is the man up to date politically? Please google for the answer.

One man who probably did not get his letter was President Umar Musa Yar’Adua. There is no public evidence that he wrote Yar’adua, the younger brother of his friend, Shehu. However, it is on record OBJ came out to publicly ask him to resign!

Before it is too late: That was the title of the letter he wrote President Goodluck Jonathan. Historical developments show clearly now that, it was actually too late before the letter was written. Jonathan has become a part of our history.

He has written President Muhammadu Buhari. I don’t need any prophet to tell me that the letter is not his political abattoir. His wife, Aisha, had warned and publicly too. Shall we please sing the Nunc Dimitis
