ODU protest Ajimobi‘s appointment of Olofa in Ibadan

*There can not be another Olofa of Offa anywhere else

Umbrella body of all Offa sons and daughters worldwide, Offa Descendants Union (ODU), has formally submitted a letter of protest to the governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfattah Ahmed, on the recent pronouncement of one of the 21 new kings in Ibadan as the Olofa of Offa.

The Union frowned at this pronouncement and condemned it as denigrating the revered position of the Olofa of Offa who is the head of Ibolo Kingdom.

While recognising the fact that there are several other communities founded by Offa descendants, the Union affirmed that there cannot be two Olofa of Offa anywhere else in the universe as there could not be two Olubadan, Ooni, Alafin for Ibadan, Ile Ife and Oyo respectively.

The Union therefore urged the Kwara State governor to prevail on his Oyo state counterpart, Abiola Ajimobi, to reverse the anomaly by changing the title of the new oba to something else.

In his response, the Kwara State governor thanked the Union for bringing this issue to his attention and promised to take it up with the Oyo state Governor.

Meanwhile, the ODU will be submitting similar letter to the Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, in the next few days.

  1. Emmanuel Ibirogba, Nice-Italy

Wow! What a short but strong protest in defence of the history of the Offa people, a key component of where the Yoruba people are coming from.
I think Governor Ajimobi does not have the proper history of his people in perspective.
How can you break Ibadan into pieces because of selfish and retrogressive thinking.
    Will history forgive him.
Stand with the Offa people in this.
