Otunba Sunday Ajayi thumbs up Sunshine Stars of Akure

*Governor Akeredolu’s quick fix helped the team

Ondo State Football Association (FA) under the leadership of Otunba Sunday-Ajayi has hailed the Sunshine Stars football club of Akure current winning spirit.

Ajayi who is an executive board member Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said he was very happy with the quality of results coming out from the Akure gunners team lately. He hopes the new found spirit is what the team needed to survive the relegation zone.

Speaking further on his desire to see the team escape from the drop zone, he said the interim management led by Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye has done well to engage the services of Duke Udi who he knows would want to achieve success with Sunshine.

Otunba Sunday Ajayi who is enjoying is vacation in far away United State of America also praised the governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) for his foresight and quick intervention to see that the Akure Gunners remain in the Nigeria professional football league next season.

www.gongnews.net recalled that Sikiru Alimi scored the only goal as Sunshine Stars FC edge El-Kanemi Warriors FC in a week 31 fixture of the 2016/17 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) played at the Dipo Dina Stadium, over the weekend in Ijebu-Ode.

Alimi headed home in the 34th minute from a Nojeem Raji’s long range free kick amidst confusion in the Warriors back line to hand the Stars the advantage.

In a similar reaction, Chairman of the Interim Management Committee of the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), Gbenga Elegbeleye has admonished Sunshine Stars FC stakeholders to stay grounded in the wake of the team’s remarkable 1-0 victory over Rivers United in a week 30 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match in Portharcourt on Wednesday.

After Ezekiel Thompson’s 68th minute header helped Sunshine Stars beat their hosts to move clear of the relegation zone to 14th on the NPFL log, the former Director General of the National Sports Commission thanked  stakeholders of the team for the solidarity so far but cautioned that it was not yet uhuru
