Pension: Legislative Watch seeks prosecution of Falana

*EFCC perjured on membership of PRTT

*Demands AGF to safeguard seized properties

Former member of the House of Representatives and Executive Secretary of ‘Legislative Watch’ a non governmental organisation, Hon Ngozika Ihuoma, has in a petition to the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) demanded “without further delays” commencement of the prosecution of Mr. Femi Falana (SAN) for offences of tampering with exhibits and obstructing an on-going prosecution of alleged “pension thieves”.

A copy of the two-page document received by the AGF dated 15th December, 2017 and titled, “RE: EFCC DENIES MEMBERSHIP OF PENSION REFORM TASK TEAM (PRTT): THE NEED TO SECURE PENSION ASSETS IN THE CUSTODY OF EFCC ARISING FROM THE WORK OF THE PRTT.”

The letter said in part, “our organisation which served as the Civil Society member of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT) under the Chairmanship of Mr. Abdulrasheed A. Maina are totally embarrassed and disappointed with the submissions made at the on-going public hearing by the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on the Disappearance, Reappearance, Reinstatement and Promotion of Mr. Abdulrasheed A, Maina to the Federal Civil Service.

“We are worried that the Acting Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), DCP Ibrahim Magu lied on Oath (perjury) when he said that the EFCC was not a member of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT) contrary to the letter issued to one of the members from CIPPO on 25th January, 2011, from the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation. Copy attached and marked “ANNEXURE LW 01”.

“We are concerned that the EFCC is disputing the handing-over of 222 properties and assets and cash valued at over =N=1.63 trillion by the PRTT which is a threat to the on-going prosecution of 43 pension suspects and many companies;

“We are surprised and disturbed that one of the properties in question is now a subject of controversy between the EFCC Chairman/Lagos lawyer and Human Right activist, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN) and the Pension Reform Task Team on whether it is the PRTT or AMCON seized the property;

Two demands were made from the AGF which also includes that, “the Hon. Minister/Attorney-General should immediately take over all 222 files dealing with the pension matters as regards the activities of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT) as the EFCC are now doctoring the files and tampering with evidence thereby jeopardising on-going prosecution of pension suspects.
