Former President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Solomon Ogba is also back in the board courtesy of the Appeals and Petitions Committee despite the physical absence of the latter and without any petition before the Father Christmas committee.
Information available to www.gongnews.net showed that Ogba and no one else petitioned the committee but former President of Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), Mark Jacob, who sent a petition was not given the same glove treatment.
The Appeals Committee claimed she looked into 20 petitions filed by aggrieved parties during the federations elections held in Abuja ordered fresh elections into five federations.
The federations cleared for fresh elections fixed for 7th July are Athletics, Taekwondo, Gymnastics, Weightlifting and Rugby.
Chairman of the committee, Abdulrazak Salau after “thorough” investigation reinstated Brown Ebewele, Rosa Collins, Charity Opara Anozie, Solomon Ogba in athletics.
Dele Oguntokun representative of Darts coaches, Professor Morakinyo Babatunde (Volleyball), Osun State representative on Weightlifting board, Louis Okoro and Sule Warmara Dart sponsor were also reinstated on their boards.
The Rugby Federation which did not hold. Committee received a report that the election into the Board of the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation which was to hold on 13th of June, 2017 at the Main bowl of the National Stadium, but due to unforeseen circumstances, it did not hold. The election into the Nigeria Rugby Federation Board shall now take place on the 7th of July, 2017 at the package A conference room, National Stadium Abuja.
The International representative of the Rugby Afrique is expected to be around on the said date to monitor events and to ensure that the conduct of the election is in tandem with International Best Practices. It is also to be noted that the Constitution (that was duly assented to by the Rugby Afrique and International Rugby Board) circulated to all stakeholders in preparatory to the elections will guide the conduct of the election.
