*Election billed for Abuja 7th December
Gabriel Okon-led Executive committee of the Track and Field Coaches Association of Nigeria (TAFCAN) has been dissolved by the Congress of the body at a meeting inside the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.
A communiqué issued at the end of the Congress meeting of the Track and Field Coaches Association of Nigeria (TAFCAN) signed by the Secretary general, Stephen Nuhu asserted that “the Executive Committee of TAFCAN has been dissolved.
The Congress took a decision to set up an electoral committee to conduct elections to bring on board new Executives to man the Association for the next four years.
The election which has been fixed for 7th December in Abuja said “irrespective of the number of coaches present, the election shall hold after the Commonwealth Games trials in the Main bowl of the National Stadium.
Congress also opened the space for campaigns for those who will be willing to take any of the offices.
About 51 coaches attended the meeting in Kaduna.
It would be recalled that the tenure of the Gabriel Okon Executives had lapsed since June 2017. Efforts to get the body of coaches to meet to plot ways of a transition had been hitting the rock until the Congress undertook what looked like a force majeure to force the process of election.
