Current African Women Footballer of the year Asisat Oshoala, has expressed delight with the new appointment for the Super Falcons coach Thomas Dennerby.
“Am really happy. Its like 2018 is looking good already. Having a new coach in January that shows the year will be a good one for Super Falcons. We have a qualified coach. A very good top graded coach in the world.
The Super Falcons have been idle for over a year without serious activities and Asisat has this to say: “we are football players, we are also professional players and this is what we do for a living. Am ready and the girls have been ready. We were just waiting for them to say let’s go. With the kind of girls we have in the team, we are a young generation who are hungry for success. So our lack of activities will not affect the team when we go into any competition with our new team and coaches.
The team is been scheduled to play an invitational tournament in Cyprus. I am happy with the Federation for
“For me, its a very good one for us, you see South Africa have been playing invitational tournaments playing throughout last year against top teams in the world. I think this is a good one for Falcons. To compete against USA and Canada is good for us, a lot of teams do play this tournament and I usually envy some of my team mates that go for the tournament. If we are able to do this regularly it will be good for the team.
The Falcons will be involved in WAFU Cup in Cote d’Ivoire, Nations Cup and World Cup qualifiers in 2018. Asked how does the team surmount the challenges ahead for the team.
“Those are not challenges they are just games for us to prepare for bigger games ahead for the team. We are more focused now to prepare for Nations Cup. We are getting the World Cup ticket. Its just part of our priority for us this year. We will as a team achieve that.”
