*They are leeches on our accounting system

Members of staff of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are grumbling in silence over what they described as the ‘long throat’ attitude of some board members who besiege the Glass House whenever grants and allocations arrive.
Some of the board members depend solely on allowances from the soccer house and are given preferential treatment whenever funds are available for outstanding allowances.
This situation we gathered has left most of the staffers ‘sobbing’ silently over unpaid allowances.
“Most of our vouchers are left unattended to in the account section but the board members often get their allowances before embarking on assignments.
We are always told to go and source for money and be paid later in the course of performing our duties. It was situations like this that led to the inability of the Glass House to clear the match balls sent by FIFA for three months leading the nation to borrow balls from our guests in the 0-2 loss to South Africa in Uyo.
“For instance, I have outstanding allowances dated back to last year. If I am even paid half of what I am owed, I can take my annual leave and go and do something tangible in my village,” one of the aggrieved staff said.
He explained that the situation is not peculiar to the staff alone but the players and coaches in the different national teams. These members have turned their roles to a full time job. They hardly leave the premises whenever they get whiff of any grant or subvention paid into our account,” the staff said.
If they are not paid they will come up with the threat to impeach the President who operates at their mercy.
We staff are just suffering and smiling in silence. They even go as far as getting alerts if payments are made into the NFF’s account,” the source pointed out.
The lack of motivation and welfare package have dropped the morale of most of the workers with most of them protesting in hush tones.
