*We don’t want you again
Residents of Kwara State stormed the streets of Ilorin to rally against the alleged corrupt dynasty of Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, who represents a part of the state in the Senate. They express the need for good governance and peace in the State.
The protest came as the people of the State were getting prepared for the 18th November local government elections into the 16 Councils.
The protest was led by women and youths. The demonstrators emphasised that the Kwara State government has failed to address the state’s many problems, including poor infrastructure and poverty.
This is about the first time that a spontaneous protest of this nature is taking place in the state which pundits have highlighted may be the beginning of the protest of the people.
There were clear cut opposition to the leadership style of the self-styled leader of the state with many of the protesters singing that “we do not want you again, the suffering of our families is enough, the state government has failed in its duties.”
The protest was conducted peacefully without any incident. Many citizens freely joined the protesters who went doing their thing on the streets of the sleepy rustic community.
