Youths, CSOs, women host Orji Kalu in Abuja
*Keep rekindling hope in our nation – Kalu
Former Abia state governor, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, has urged the people of the country to continue to rekindle the flame of hope in the greater tomorrow of this nation.
Dr Kalu, a two-time governor of the south Eastern state in Nigeria, made the comment last weekend, when he was hosted by a coalition of civil, youth, women and community organisations in the nation’s capital, Abuja, under the aegis of Hope Alive for Nigerians.
Kalu who made a surprise, simple and very free atmosphere appearance sent the gathering on fire with his suave presence mixed with the citizens without any usual aura of security scare.
Convener of the meeting, Jacob “NADECO” Okpanachi told his audience, “Nigeria will remain an indivisible entity. We need a greater tomorrow in our nation. Youths and women must rise and take their place in the scheme of things. We must lead the nation to the promised land.
He added, “Dr Orji Uzor Kalu is one person whose love for the youths of the nation is remarkable. He became a governor in his youth unlike what we have now. He has shown the way and we shall follow. Today, we are caught in a mutual inevitability to work the ropes and make our nation greater than we met it.”
Some of the speakers at the event included Comrade Usman Issa Justice who said that, “the joy of a dying father
is the joy of a worthy successor. The leadership vacuum in our society will keep increasing except there is a deliberate recruitment of the youth population to step up into the shoes that will take our nation forward. That is where Dr Uzor Kalu become a beacon of hope and resurgence.”
Hajia Hyra Rafia in her comments said, “when a nation have the likes of Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, what else are we looking for? How many of the nation’s leaders can be easily accessed today? Where would you even see them. The same simplicity with which you see him here is exactly how he is always. We thank God for leaders like him.”
She submitted further, “check his investments, they are mostly in Nigeria and it helps the youths to get some fulfillment. He is the symbol of hope in a greater tomorrow. We approached him and found little or no difficulty in reaching him. That is why we named our organization, Hope Alive for Nigeria, that there is hope in tomorrow. Other leaders should emulate him.”
President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Aruna Kadiri, was accompanied by a retinue of his
colleagues praised Dr Kalu, “each time we see people in this bracket who identify with us, the youths of Nigeria, we know that sooner or later, we are destined for greater heights. He is one person who radiates hope in the power of the youths and women.”
In his response, Dr Kalu told his audience, “Nigeria is a great nation that God specially designed for us. We owe the nation the duty of care. Nobody should slumber. We all must keep hope alive. We are so rich and so blessed. We must continue to aspire to be bigger, better and keep hope alive.”
Some of the guests that attended the event include the Chief Executive Officer of Saraha Homes Alhaji (Dr) Mohammed Kabir Haruna, Mrs Amina Ohiara, Prince Saidu Hassan, Barrister Afam Ilona, Dr Chibuzor Nwoke, Prince Aliyu Hassan, Comrade Peter Eze.
