AFCON 2022 : Nigeria. May Face Ghana, Egypt, C’ d’Ivoire In Group Stage

Super Eagles of the Nigeria will be in Pot 1 when the draw for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations AFCON to be hosted in Cameroon next year January is made later in the year.
This is because all the top five African teams according to the last FIFA raking in the continent will be in the same Pot 1.
Senegal, Tunisia, Nigeria, Algeria, Morocco and  are rated the best five teams in the continent will be in Pot 1 and will not clash with one another in the group stage.
Nigeria is ranked 32 in the last FIFA ranking ahead of Algeria and Morocco who are ranked 33 and 34 respectively while Senegal is 22 and Tunsia 26.
However there is every tendency that the Super Eagles will get opponent like Ghana, Cote d’ Ivoire, Egpyt, Burkina-Faso, Mali and Guinea from the group stage where these countries are seeded in Pot 2.
Pot 3 will have  teams from Cape Verde, Gabon, Muaritania, Zimbabwe, Guinea Bissau, and Sierra Leone while Pot 4 will have Malawi, Comoros, Equitorial Guinea, Ethiopia and Gambia.
The draw was originally billed for June 25th but was postponed for logistics reasons and because of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
A new date may be announced by the Confederation of African Football CAF who will rely on the May FIFA ranking before the postponement of the draws.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria were in the same group as Madagascar, Guniea and Burundi with Nigeria losing to Madagascar in the opening match by 2-0, but later one the bronze by beating Tunisia 1-0 in the third place match.
