A total of 104 Taekwondoists have arrived Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State capital ahead of points ranking and money prize Taekwondo Open Championships holding between November 9 and 11, 2019 at the Hauru Abdul Stadium.

The event organized by the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation NTF in conjunction with the Kebbi State Taekwondo Association, will be using the Daedo Gen 2 scoring technology, Instant Video Replay as well as the Taekoplan Overall Event Management system to ensure the event conforms to international standards.

A total number of 70 males and 34 females from 22 teams across the country is the last nationally ranked event of the NTF before the highly anticipated debut of the season-ending best-of-the-best championships in December.

Thirteen of the 16 members of the National Team that represented Nigeria at the 12th All African Games are also competing at the Kebbi event, including all six medalists led by team captains, All African Games Gold medalist Chinazum Nwosu and All African Games Bronze medalist, Sunday Onofe.

The event will be the first NTF-sanctioned taekwondo event to be held in Kebbi state, stretching the number of states that have experienced Federation national programs in the past 24 months to 10 states, including Borno, Lagos, Kwara, Ebonyi, Kaduna, FCT Abuja, Osun, Benue and Zamfara.
