Chef Arrested for Masterminding Kidnapping Of Employer’s Son ln FCT


In a shocking turn of events, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended a 29-year-old chef, Ulagu Philemon Chukwuma, for orchestrating the abduction of his employer’s 12-year-old son, Justin Nwakwo. The incident occurred on February 10, 2024, in the bustling neighborhood of Jabi, Abuja.

Philemon, employed as a domestic worker and entrusted with culinary responsibilities in the Nwakwo household, was taken into custody by diligent officers from the Utako Police Divisional Headquarters. Their swift action came as part of a concerted effort to locate the missing boy and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Subsequent investigations conducted by law enforcement authorities uncovered damning evidence implicating Philemon as the mastermind behind the heinous act. It was revealed that he colluded with an accomplice, identified as Mc Donald Arinze, who is currently evading arrest. Together, they coerced the victim’s father into parting with a staggering sum of three million, nine hundred thousand naira (₦3,900,000) as ransom.

However, the long arm of the law eventually caught up with the perpetrators, thanks to the unwavering dedication of the police force. Following a meticulous operation, Justin Nwakwo was successfully rescued unharmed and joyously reunited with his relieved parents. Moreover, the entirety of the extorted ransom was swiftly recovered by authorities.

Commenting on the incident, Commissioner of Police, CP Igwe, urged residents to remain vigilant and prioritize thorough background checks when employing domestic staff. He reiterated the commitment of the FCT Police Command to rid the nation’s capital of criminal elements, ensuring the safety and security of all its inhabitants.

The arrest of Philemon serves as a stark reminder of the importance of upholding trust and integrity within household environments, while underscoring the pivotal role of law enforcement agencies in safeguarding communities against such nefarious acts.
