COVID-19: IGU DISTRICT HEAD COMMENDS IFEOMA ABAM FOR PALLIATIVES

By Collins Ajibola

The District Head of Igu, Bwari, FCT, Abuja; Chief Tanzako Solomon Igu has commended Mrs. Ifeoma Abam for the donation of variety of items towards ameliorating the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the community.

Receiving the donation in his Palace, Chief Igu said the items will go a long in cushioning the suffering that they have been experiencing since the pandemic.

He said since the outbreak of the virus, the villages have suffered untold hardship as the means of livelihood of community members have been greatly hampered.

According to him, being an agrarian community, their inability to sell their food commodities to wholesalers who used to buy their agricultural commodities from them meant loss of income to most families.

“That is why we are very grateful to Mrs. Ifeoma Abam to have sent food, face masks, hand sanitizers and other items to us as a big relief”, he said.

He assured Mrs. Abam that the items will be judiciously distributed on household basis so that the men, women and children will all partake in them.

The donor, Mrs. Abam said the choice of the village is based on its remoteness from the city centre of Abuja.

She says she usually intervenes in hard-to-reach communities with relief materials as her own way of serving humanity.

She also disclosed that one of the sons of Igu village, Chief Auta is a friend of her family and a former colleague of her husband who served meritoriously and won the hearts of everyone around him.

“Although this may be like a drop in the ocean, she believes that it will at least boost their morale that they are thought of at a time like this”, Mrs. Abam said.

Mrs. Abam who was represented by Chief Auta said that she will continue to have the interest of the community in mind and will extend any support within her means.

The presentation was witnessed by the village heads in the district, women, youths, and children.
