DELTA FA CRISIS: CONGRESS DRAGS NFF PRESIDENT, SEC TO COURT

Electoral Congress of the Delta State Football Association DSFA has dragged the Nigeria Football Federation President NFF, Amaju Pinnick and his Secretary General Dr. Mohammed Sanusi to court over the over the Normalisation Committee set up to run the affairs of football in the state.

According to a suit number W/66/2020 filed before the Delta State High Court, Warri Division, by Barbar Ebimowei and Onovughakpo Ekugbawa on behalf members of the congress of the DSFA, the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick; Secretary-General, Mohammed Sanusi and members of the Normalisation Committee are expected to appear in court soon.

The duo are praying the court inter alia nullify the powers of the NFF and the Normalisation Committee from unduly interfering in the state’s football matters.

The applicants are praying the court for three orders in a motion on notice brought pursuant to order 38 of the High court of Delta state (civil procedure) rules 2009 and under the inherent Jurisdiction of this honourable court.

An order of interlocutory injunction restraining the defendants/respondents,  by themselves, their agents, thugs, privies, subordinates, proxies or any other person whatsoever acting under or by their instructions or authority from further taking steps or action   to prevent the claimants and any other lawful organ of Delta state football Association from carrying regulating and/ or activities in all parts of Delta state or Nigeria pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.

An order restraining the defendants from taking any step to conduct any form of Election into any office of the DSFA.

An order restraining members of the normalization committee from parading themselves.

Meanwhile, National Association of Nigerian Footballers, NANF has vowed to join in the suit to restore justce to the DSFA.

NANF President, Harrison Jalla said in a statement Monday that : “The task to rescue Nigeria football from invaders and mercenaries must be accomplished,”.

“Impunity will always breed crisis, the NANF will join the fray in a couple of days from the federal high court,” he said.
