EFCC TO AMEND CHARGES AGAINST NFF’S STAFF, INCLUDES BOARD MEMBERS

Chairman of anti-graft agency EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has amended the charges brought against three members of the Account Department of the Nigeria Football Federation NFF and now include some board members of the federation.

The amendment was made after the EFCC met with football stakeholders on Wednesday in his office after the matter of alleged misappropriation of funds was referred to Magu by the Human Rights Radio.

“The meeting went very well,” one of the stakeholders disclosed after the meeting with the EFCC boss.

The stakeholders included NFF Director of Protocol, Oyetunde Aderibigbe, former Super Eagles coach James Peters as well as ex-international Emmanuel Babayaro.

Magu met with the stakeholders at his office after allegations were made against the legal department of the EFCC Abuja as well as plans by the Lagos zonal office of the agency to scuttle investigations they have carried out against NFF’s top brass.

The EFCC has charged three NFF account department staff for theft of over $10 million meant for the development of football in Nigeria.

However, a protest by critical stakeholders has since caused the EFCC to seek an amendment of the charges to now include the top NFF Chiefs.

Justice Peter Affen of the FCT High Court will rule next month on the amended charges.

The EFCC Lagos office has also come under fire with zonal operations Head as well as some other investigators alleged to be doing everything to sabotage investigations into stolen sponsorship monies at the NFF.
