President Of Nigeria Weightlifting Federation of Nigeria (NWF), Ibrahim Aladi has urged other Armforces and Paramilitary bodies to emulate police in organising sporting activities.
Arm forces and Paramilitary need to embrace this initiative and also plan on how they can organise competition like this.
“We urge them Nigeria Immigration, Nigeria Police, the military, Federal Road Safety Corps among others to key into this type of competition in weightlifting or any sports of their choice.
“We will meet with them and to see on how we can collaborate for the success of the entire country,” he said .
The president commended Inspector General of Police (IGP) for organizing the the maiden edition of IGP National Open Weightlifting Championship.
He said about 150 weightlifter’s are participating in the first edition of the championship.
“It’s a very successful initiative, It is majorly organised by the police
“We had the technicality and we brought our technical people, the referees so that we can give the game the needed allocation that it requires to have a perfect tournament.
“We want to see how we can synchronised it with our calendar and hopefully organising as a yearly competition,” he said
He added that constant sports activities can help to reduce the problem of insecurities in county.
“Sports is a vital segment of the society, constant competitions will make youth busy and there won’t be time to commit crimes and reduce the level of insecurities in the country,” he Concluded
