Ex Nigeria U-17 Striker Breaks Armenia Premier League Goal Scoring Record

Former Nigeria under-17 and 23 international Yusuf Otubanjo as broken the Armenian premier league goal scoring record.

Otubanjo who join Ararat-armenia in the January transfer window of 2019/ 2020 season from LSK Linz scored 20 goals in 37 appearances to make him highest goal scorer of Ararat Armenia and that of the Armenian league in general.

The former Atletico Madrid striker broke the record set by Antonio Kobyalko who scored 30 goals in 66 appearance. Otubanjo broke the record over the weekend with two beautiful goals to help his team defeat Pyunik Yerevan in the week three of the Armenia premier league.

Meanwhile, Otubanjo expressed his readiness to score more goals and set more record with the team this season. ”

I cannot say I’m satisfied with the record, I want to do more but at the same time, joining the team it has been a lot of progress as well to my career,  I’ve been having a lot of playing time and scoring goals gives me great Joy.

What more can a player need to be satisfied, I’m sure at the end of the season we will qualify for champions league or Europa league then I can be more satisfied but for now, we are still work in progress”.

 

When asked about how live has treated him in Armenian, he said life in Armenian has been very great and peaceful the people are very friendly and nice the winter here is something else but it’s one of the nicest country I’ve ever been too”.

” At first I started so well and can’t really say there are challenges last season was a bit tough all over the world with the covid-19, so many things changed but we have been so safe and good.

There are challenges in daily life not even talk about Armenian alone, but for now thing has change mostly with the fans back to the stadium”. He concluded.

Otubanjo what part of the Nigerian under-17 FIFA World cup runner-up in 2009. he started his career with Nigerian side Julius Berger Football club, Gateway United FC, Crown FC, Atletico Madrid of Spain, FC Red bull Salzburg, FC Pasching, FC Blau-weib Linz Zilina, Sc Alyach, Lask Linz before joining Ararat Armenia in the 2019/2020 season.
