FCT SUPER 4 LEAGUE: WINCO FOAM, WACO GRAB FIRST WINS

Winco Foam FC and WACO FA won their respective first match at the ongoing 2019 Federal Capital Territory FCT Super Four League matches decided at Area 3 playing ground on Monday.

Winco came from a goal behind to pick the maximum points by beating Basic Maracana FC 2-1 in a highly contested match.

Maracana scored first in the 7th minute of the game through Edwin Kingsley while Winco’s captain, Adekwu Collins cancelled the lead in the 35th minute with a volley taken from outside the box.

Substitute Nwachkwu Micheal of Winco however scored the second and winning goal for his side in the 68th minute.

Speaking after the encounter, Winco captain, Adekwu exuded confidence that they will be victorious at end of the round robbin game.

“By the Grace of God and some dint of hardwork will emerge champions of the Super Four League,” he explained.

Also speaking on the tournament, the Chairman of FCT FA, Mr. Mohammed Mouktar said he was impressed with the work of the Organising Committee of the championship.

He thanked the referees, the teams and everybody who has made the championship a success and promised to make it a fiesta next year with more sposors coming to support it.

“We are going to put on our thinking caps on how to improve on the standard next season. Alraedy some people have shown interest to support and we are going to give them value for their money,” the Chairman said.

There will be a resurgence of the sport in Abuja and definitely football will be the winner,” he added.

It will be recalled that 36 teams in FCT played in the first and second phases of the League with the four best playing the Super Four.
